How Tennesseans #GotCaughtReading: A Re-cap of IL Week 2016 Social Media Challenge

In celebration of Tennessee’s Imagination Library Week 2016, Sept. 18 to 24, GBBF launched the #GotCaughtReading statewide social media challenge. Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam kicked off the challenge on Monday, Sept. 19 and “Got Caught Reading” Imagination Library books to their grandchildren on social media. The challenge encouraged every Tennessean to “Get Caught Reading” an Imagination Library book on social media to raise awareness of early childhood literacy and the joy of sharing books with children.

Thank you to our statewide partners, volunteers, and special VIP posts for participating in the challenge! Here is a breakdown of how the challenge went:

During IL Week,

  • Over 450 posts were made on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. These numbers were an all-time high for GBBF social media traffic, increasing our followers and likes on all three platforms.
  • Posts included six state commissioners, GBBF Advisory Council members, Miss Tennessee, Joe Bonsall of the Oak Ridge Boys, five Tennessee court judges, and 18 county programs.
  • The challenge reached 55,940 people on social media.
